Stemming from a glass mould of my body this work evolved into a performance piece exploring the loss of fertility due to oestrogen depletion and its many side effects. The work subverts the accepted meaning of the Maypole - that of fertility. Instead of the masculine symbolism of the pole, the woman stands alone, in the centre of veiled onlookers who slowly and deliberately shroud her in black ribbons. Is she being buried by what she has lost, or can she use this as a cocoon from which  to re-invent herself?
